Pari Match : Abhishek Sharma Creates History With a Stunning 30-Ball Century Against Afghanistan

📅 2026-09-18 • ✍️ Pari Match

It was not the first time that Abhishek Sharma has hit a century against Afghanistan as he converted the third T20I played in New Delhi into an exhibition of power hitting with a third T20I century that came off just 30 balls and thus making him the fastest T20I centurion in the Indian history.

Sometimes it is the result of the matches that is recalled. Sometimes people recall some spell, some chasing or some magnificent catching. There are matches which are one inning games.

It was Abhishek Sharma who walked out to bat to lead the way and open records in the process. The left-handed player achieved the century in 30 balls including 34 balls, 11 sixes and 9 fours. The Indian team scored 221/7 with his amazing batting performance before the bowlers went on to seal a 127-run win and 3-0 series win.

However, figures alone cannot make one understand what has happened in Delhi and here comes the Pari Match guide to give you all the information about yesterday's match. How did Abhishek manage the control?

Toss won by Afghanistan Team

The opposing team got the chance to play their innings in the very first over to prevent India from scoring any run.

Abhishek created issues for them. He made runs in the very first over of the match off Fazalhaq Farooqi. Abhishek came into bat in the second over against Azmatullah Omarzai in haste.

The pressure increased drastically. The third over was decisive. The third over saw Farooqi back on the field. The third over soon became the most expensive over of the innings.

Abhishek scored 23 runs from the over hitting the boundary frequently and showing his desire not to let Afghanistan's pace attack get settled.

It soon became apparent to Afghanistan what the issue was. If they bowled full, then Abhishek could drive. If they provided width, then he could cut. If they went short in using the boundary option, then he could clear the rope. And the Indian opener was timing the ball perfectly well.

A celebration of calmness

As Abhishek marked his hundred runs, the celebrations that he did were entirely different than the manner in which he batted.

Abhishek made himself sit on the pitch in a meditative fashion. There had been total chaos prevailing in the batting unit of his team since quite some time. Sixes were flowing in. Boundaries were coming.

There had been total confusion going on in the Afghan camp right from the beginning. Abhishek went on to score a century and then just sat there in calmness to celebrate it.

This became one of the highlights of the game that was covered by Pari Match India.

Sanju Samson enters the attacking

For the opening few overs, much of the scoring was done by Abhishek. Sanju Samson was playing a relatively restrained game to start with. However, this was quickly to become a two-man assault.

Samson started targeting Afghanistan's spin bowlers, while Abhishek kept going at their pace bowlers. It made things extremely tough for Afghanistan to come up with any single plan in bowling.

One over saw the work of Abhishek. The other saw that of Samson. In between, there would be fours scored by both of them. The fifth over saw India score 29 runs. The scorecard started reading at an incredible rate. 100 runs in six overs of powerplay.

However, what was even more impressive was the individual contribution of Abhishek.

He scored 76 runs off just 22 balls, setting a record for himself as the highest runs scored by any batter in the first six overs of a men's T20I match. This was no quick start to the innings.

This was an entire powerplay where one player dominated the scoring. Abhishek managed to convert the field restrictions to his advantage and target every

 Wickets Fall

It could not be seen that the team managed to form partnerships to put pressure again on the Indian side.

Reddy and Bishnoi proved to be highly successful by dismissing three batsmen each. The visitors got all out for 94 in 14.1 overs. The results of the match were decided in just 10 overs.

From these figures, we can easily understand why the Indian side won the match. But the batting stats have taught us why the Afghans chased such a huge figure.

Abhishek scored 108 runs in an average of 317 plus runs in 100 balls. He managed to score 100 runs in 30 balls which is a very good record for India. His 76 runs in the powerplay is also a new record.

India completes the series sweep

Following up on his successful batting innings, India also put up an outstanding bowling show.

While Afghanistan started well in their chase for victory, their momentum did not last long. As the Indians continued to pick wickets, Afghanistan finally crumbled to 94 all out in 14.1 overs.

Ravi Bishnoi and Nitish Kumar Reddy bagged three wickets apiece for India who finally secured the win by 127 runs in what turned out to be a 3-0 series sweep.

Conclusion : Final figures speak for themselves

The figures at the end of the match would resemble some fantasy:

Abhishek Sharma – 108 in 34 balls

Fours: 9

Sixes: 11

Century: 30 balls

India: 221/7

Afghanistan: 94 all out

India won by: 127 runs

Series: India win 3-0

But there was one figure that might be even more impressive – 30.

It took 30 balls for Abhishek Sharma to surpass the record set earlier by Rohit Sharma. And 34 balls to score 108 runs.

While the Afghanistan series will be concluded in the favor of India with a 3-0 margin, the third match will be mostly remembered because of the speed with which Abhishek Sharma scored his runs.

Abhishek Sharma did not have any difficulties adapting to the game.

Rather, he just attacked right from the beginning, scored some records during the powerplay, made 50 runs in 16 balls, a hundred in 30 balls and finished his inning with 108.

Therefore, September 17, 2026 became the date on which yet another fastest century record entered the history books of Indian T20 cricket. To see more match updates  you may visit regularly on our website using Pari Match ID for all updates and stories.
